Some time ago, during long snowless winter in Europe, in the time of Old New Year days in Russia, at one Bangkok market two Buddha hands were bought. Essentially, one at first, a wooden simply crafted hand with little golden leaves on it, then about an hour later the buyer saw the same hand but bigger and thought this one would suit better for the present she was looking for and bought it too. One should know that in many ways it was a matter of rare chance. Later that day it was learnt that there was only one province in Thailand where it was legal to sell Buddha hands and the rest of country , including Bangkok, was hands-free zone. Due to that fact we can conclude that this coincidence was rather special. Though at the same time, one who has ever been to Bangkok market knows: it is the place you can find almost anything. Also what was originally bought as a blessing hand, later on, was learnt to be a courage hand – the particular hand gesture it represents was known as a “gesture of fearlessness“.
Years after, one of these hands appeared to be in the captain’s cabin on one sailing boat of at least 42 feet long and of a remarkable colour, which was not only reflecting the tones of the seas and oceans this boat was sailing through but enriched them and transformed them. No matter which waters it’s been – dark and muddy grey or emerald green and blue – the turquoise colour of the boat made an incredible reflection on the surface around it: highlighting the cheerful colours of lucid waters, as well as making gloomy ones look brighter. When someone looked at the boat from the shore, he was fascinated by the happiness of it and around it and got inspired by the big journey of two people there.
This boat belongs to a good man. The jeweller his was, he didn’t do that much of actual craftwork these days, only some special pieces and the design for bigger production, in fact you can find his works in many stores around the world these days, selling with a big success. He and his wife were traveling a lot, they were not that young but laugh together like children do and often went for passionate debates and bets. Their children, friends and relatives were living in different parts of the world, they always built their journey the way that they could see them all. Also at least once per year they met all together to celebrate Christmas.
It could have been different for him if not one romantic story happened to this man in that particular winter I described earlier and the courage hand connected to that story. Something invisible yet big changed about him and he stopped hiding who he is, his real wishes and started to call a spade a spade. He always knew the quality is what matters – many can go, one will stay. Mr. Jung would say he finally started to trust women which means he started to trust life.
The other hand was standing at the study in one charming chateau in the forests of Sumava. This place had not only a fascinating history but a wonderful story of modern days. The study smelled of amber and wood and the flowers on the table were adding a floral breeze to the room, she had that thing to always have fresh flowers on her writing desk. Next door, in the living hall, the Christmas hustle was in its bloom as well. It was that week of a year when chateau was closed for public and hosted only family and friends. The owner of the chateau was a good-looking woman. She and her husband were – as people would call – a wonderful couple. She was adding last touches to a festively decorated table, the candles were already lit up on a big Christmas tree, it was snowing outside and children were building a snowman in the yard, when the grown-up part of the party were bringing dishes to the table and exchanging the news. It was a big family, with many stories to tell.
But it could have been different for that woman if not the hand and one romantic story connected to it, which happen in the same particular winter I described earlier. Something invisible to others yet big happened to her. She started to look at men without a fear to lose. She knew she lives big, but always feared to lose someone nice around her and was trying to find her peace with small things, hiding who she really is. Mr. Jung would say – she finally realised the true size of herself as well as the value of that and started to trust life.
Those two hands spent only one night together, delicately toughing one another on the bedside table, next day one hand was presented as a gift. Sometimes magic takes time, sometimes very little time needed for the magic to succeed. But no matter how soon or long – what will happen next is always a question of choice.
People were dancing around the Christmas tree, young and old, a precious silver planet of hers, her star, was shining on the Christmas tree, as the symbol of magic, radiating the joy of life itself, as well as she did and seemed like everybody else in that room that night. The golden hand was shining in its own way as a symbol of choice – the only power which can make the magic to carry on…
